Abstract (English)

Intended as a complement to an exhibition presented at Dazibao, this book brings together photographs by two women who have chosen to explore the repetition of family gestures and myths. Brière and Claus’ images (which are accompanied by a poem by Beharry) use blur as a means of evoking memory while placing emphasis on touch and the gaze. Text in French and English. Brief biographical notes.

Résumé

Conçu comme le complément autonome d’une exposition présentée à Dazibao, ce livre réunit les photos de deux femmes artistes ayant choisi d’explorer la répétition des gestes et des mythes familiaux. Les images de Brière et Claus, accompagnées d’un poème de Beharry, utilisent un flou qui évoque autant le souvenir qu’il appelle le toucher et le regard. Texte en français et en anglais.
