Abstract (English)

This catalogue documents an exhibition of 67 sculptures selected from the Shumiatcher Collection of Inuit Art by guest curator D. C. Wight, to inaugurate the Shumiatcher Sculpture Court at the Mackenzie Art Gallery. Gibson’s text offers complementary information on the works’ context (physical, cultural and shamanic) in parallel with the descriptions of 29 individual pieces from the collection (including three prints).
