Abstract (English)

This catalogue for Hurlbut’s installation of objects from the Royal Ontario Museum contains a detailed list (in English and French) and photographic documentation of the artifacts deployed by the artist. McLuhan claims Hurlbut challenges traditional museum practice, letting the power of the objects speak directly of the unknown. Baluk traces the museum’s evolution to the point that it includes post-modern installations like Hurlbut’s. Includes a floorplan of the exhibition and a list of the artist's past exhibitions. 16 bibl. ref.
