Abstract (English)

This richly illustrated catalogue was published to accompany an exhibition of Inuit art from the Canadian Arctic, which gathered the works of some sixty artists. The texts include a variety of perspectives on Inuit lifestyle, religion, oral traditions, musical and scuptural practices, and the natural environment. Gagnon and Durand recount the evolution of the Muséum de Lyon’s collection and describe the recently acquired pieces of Inuit art. Includes an index of artists, a location map of Inuit territories as well as historical and artistic chronologies (2 p.) ; bibliography (2 p.).
