Abstract (English)

Lacroix traces Dorion’s career since his student years, when he was inspired by paintings and photographs from the past, to the more minimal paintings of today featuring places and objects. The author provides an in-depth analysis of the pictorial and material aspects of the works in light of the artist’s favourite techniques and themes (self-portraits, the artist’s place in art history, the male figure, indoor and outdoor spaces, light.) Résumé

Lacroix présente le parcours de Dorion depuis ses années d'études, où l'artiste s'inspire d’œuvres et de photographies anciennes, jusqu'aux tableaux récents, plus épurés, qui mettent en scène des lieux et des objets. L'auteur examine en détail les aspects picturaux et matériaux des œuvres tout en considérant les techniques et les thèmes de prédilection de Dorion (autoportrait, place de l'artiste dans l'histoire de l'art, figure masculine, espace intérieur et extérieur, lumière).
