Abstract (English)

In the text that accompanies this exhibition catalogue, Dion delineates the concerns addressed by Statts in a photo series he has been working on since 1996. Dion argues that Staats’ photographs deliberately engage the active glance of the photographer so that it can be reactivated by the viewer, and perpetuate the sacred character of the living moment. Includes 25 high quality reproductions of the artist's work. Text in English and French. Biographical notes. 4 bibl. ref.
