Abstract (English)

Tousley examines Hall's still-life paintings from 1979-1987 as portraits of people composed from the identity of their personal belongings. She asserts that his work reflects a culturally defined reality and the shifting contextual status of meaning in visual signs. Biographical notes. 52 bibl. ref.
