Abstract (English)"A third tongue is a language that emerges from the coexistence of two languages. This language can only be spoken and understood by individuals living in that particular bilingual context because they have, at least, partial knowledge of both languages. This curatorial project, commissioned by Le Labo, stems from extensive research about the production practices of Francophone Media Artists, especially those living in linguistic minority contexts. The intention of this research was to put aside notions of artistic expression and go beyond strict categorizations of artistic disciplines as a way to address questions about identity and Francophone arts. The Third Tongue is composed of three types of experiences: a screening, an installation and a panel discussion." -- p. [2]. Cette langue ne peut qu’être parlée et comprise par les individus vivant en contexte bilingue et connaissant du moins partiellement les deux langues d’origine. C’est le titre choisi pour cet événement de diffusion commissionné au Labo. Ce projet découle d’une recherche approfondie sur la production en art médiatique francophone, tout particulièrement les artistes francophones en situation minoritaire, avec un effort intentionnel de mettre de côté toute idée reçue sur les expressions artistiques, d’aller au-delà des catégorisations de disciplines, et d’adresser la question de l’identité et l’art francophone.
