Abstract (English)

"Drawing links between Marienborg (the official residence of the Danish prime minister), the Haitian revolution, human trafficking, Kendrick Lamar, the slave whip, black skin, and her personal history, Jeannette Ehlers addresses Denmark’s past as a colonial power and slave trading nation and the implications this history has for Europe today. In Say It Loud! Jeannette Ehlers presents and discusses her work through photographs and newly written texts and interviews on topics such as identity, ethnicity and history, particularly with regard to Denmark’s colonial history." -- Critical Distance, Centre for Curators.
