Abstract (English)

The exhibition brings together works Robert Ayre critiqued in the English press between 1935 and 1971, and which are part of the permanent collection of Concordia University's art gallery. Paikowsky notes the Canadian identity of the collection and the museological functions served by the gallery; Valliant outlines the critic's biography. Two of Ayre's texts, on the founding of the collection and the mandate of the gallery, as well as excerpts from his columns, are also included. 15 bibl. ref.

L'exposition réunit des oeuvres commentées par le critique Robert Ayre dans la presse anglophone montréalaise entre 1935 et 1971, et faisant maintenant partie de la collection permanente de la galerie d'art de l'Université Concordia. Paikowsky rappelle l'identité canadienne de la collection et les fonctions muséales de la galerie, alors que Valliant trace une biographie du critique.
