Abstract (English)

A comprehensive retrospective of Oiticica's writings, drawings, paintings, structural works and encounter/performances, this catalogue also contains a detailed chronology of his life (1937-1990), a commentary on his writings, and an interview with Brazilian poet Haroldo de Campos. Essayist Brett uses diary entries, letters, and his own experiences with Oiticica to construct a thorough personal/professional biography; Salomaos "Homage" is a text that mirrors the artist's episodic, aphoristic style; David offers an interpretation of his work based in her knowledge of Brazilian culture and counter-culture of the 1960s and 1970s.
