Abstract (English)Analyzing the experience of public art in France since the 1970s, 20 authors identify the postmodern context associated to this production (particularly in the Villes Nouvelles) and define the nature and function of sculpture in the city. The relationship between town-planning and creation, the monumentality of public art, and the works of 16 artists are examined. Includes the descriptions of 33 projects in France.
