Abstract (English)

To accompany an exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Thayendanegea, known by his English name Joseph Brant (1742-1807), the authors provide a historical overview of this "legendary Mohawk warrior's" position and influence within the Six Nations, and British military, and an analysis of the portraits he inspired (painted between the 18th century and 1990). 32 bibl. ref.
