Abstract (English)

Curator of a series of over 100 internationally produced films and videos, Gingras investigates the inscription of movement and time in the photographic media and the perceptual consequences of incorporating still photography into film and video. The similarity between the body and photography, and the importance of the present, and presence, to memory are investigated. Includes brief synopses of the works presented. 7 bibl. ref.

Ayant sélectionné plus de 100 films et vidéos internationaux, Gingras étudie l'inscription du mouvement et du temps au sein du médium photographique, et examine les effets perceptuels associés à l'intégration de l'image fixe au cinéma et en vidéo. Les similitudes entre corps et photographie, et l'importance du présent et de la présence, par rapport à la mémoire, sont analysées.
