Abstract (English)

A personal text by Tarantino situates Borland’s exhibition in terms of his experience of the work and its connotations of human vulnerability. In a description of a research visit to the Smithsonian National Zoo, Borland locates the inspiration for Bullet Proof Breath in her discovery of the American military’s experiments with spider silk as a bullet-proof material. A selection of facts and lore about spiders by P. Hillyard and other authors is included. Bio-bibliography 3 p. List of works.
