Abstract (English)

The projet Mobilivre-Bookmobile project has been selectively collecting and organizing artist’s books, zines and other independent publications on an annual basis since 2000. A new collection is created each year, and members of the Bookmobile Collective present these works in a traveling exhibition to diverse venues throughout Canada and the United States. Exhibitions take place in community centres, schools, libraries, alternative book fairs and artist-run centres. The collective also organizes workshops and participates in educational activities on a community level during these tours. In 2005, the Bookmobile Collective donated its annual collections to Artexte Information Centre.

Résumé

Le projet Mobilivre-Bookmobile project collecte et organise de façon sélective des livres d’artistes, des zines et d’autres publications indépendantes. Depuis l’année 2000, une nouvelle collection est créée chaque année, et les membres du collectif Bookmobile présente ces œuvres dans une exposition itinérante parcourant divers lieux du Canada et des États-Unis. Les expositions prennent place dans des centres communautaires, des écoles, des bibliothèques, des festivals ainsi que des centres d’artistes auto-gérés. Le collectif organise également des ateliers et participe à des conférences et des forums éducatifs durant les tours. En 2005, Le collectif Bookmobile a fait don de ces collections annuelles au Centre d’Information Artexte.

Le second guide nommé ci-dessus regroupe les publications qui, au moment de l'acquisition, n'ont pu être liées à une année d'exposition. The collection contains artists’ publications and periodicals : bookworks, zines, book objects, multiples, and small press publications. The works were produced in Canada, the United Sates and other international locations. A guide for the collection is available in HTML format or on paper. The 2001 collection is currently incomplete. The second guide that this record links to lists all publications that were not identified with an exhibition year at the time of acquisition.
