Abstract (English)

In her essay on Bond’s exhibition of three monumental paintings of imaginary cityscapes (1997-2000), Watson provides a detailed account of each painting, establishing a continuity with the artist’s earlier production and discussing the works’ metaphorical space, along with their historical antecedents (beginning in the 18th century with Piranesi and Legeay), the increasing mobility of urban spaces in the 19th century, the situationist art of Constant and the Tower of Babel motif. List of works. Bio-bibliography 2p.
