Abstract (English)

In his essay, Buchloh contextualizes Weiner's posters in relation to his earlier abandoned work in painting and sculpture to the practices of painting and sculpture in general and to a longer tradition of avant-garde activity traversing Dada, Duchamp, Johns and Andre. The posters are also discussed in terms of their linguistic functioning, and notions of process, place, commodification and mass culture. Statements by the artist appear thoughout the book.
