Abstract (English)

Zapf closely examines aspects of Sawyer's work, a multimedia, magic lantern-type installation based on a character from Hamlet (the opera), which involves viewer-triggered projections and sound playback. The author reflects on the representation of female madness in arts and science since the 18th century, the history of divas, and the role of recording in the disembodiment of the female voice. 20 bibl. ref.
