Abstract (English)

Complementing short poetic excerpts by the artist, White's text examines Chen's installation in relation to the exhibition site - a former estate house of the 1920s bearing cultural and moral connotations. Focusing on the Chinese figures of the "demon girl" and the "hungry ghost", the author elaborates on issues of sensuality, mystical presence, as well as female bodily functions and powers associated with these characters.
