Abstract (English)

Thompson situates von Tiesenhausen's work within the contexts of contemporary media culture, modernism and romanticism. He also describes some of the artist's recent works and the "Forest Figures" piece presented at Stride: a staged event in which five male figures carved in wood are burned and then installed on top of an abandoned building.
