Riduan TomkinsTools Kelly, Gemey. Riduan Tomkins. Halifax, NS: Dalhousie Art Gallery, 1986.
Abstract (English)Tomkins' figurative works in this exhibition are characterized by lushly painted fields of colour inhabited by diminutive figures, angels and animals. The work of the Dorset-born artist is seen to emerge from the British figurative school of painting. Pictorial space illusionism, symbolism and the influence of Giacometti are central considerations.
