Abstract (English)

This English translation of Martin's novel "Darlinghurst Heroes" was published in conjunction with a solo exhibition bearing the same title. In his foreword to the book, D. Lessard provides a brief interpretation of the novel, which recounts a photographer's trip to Australia in order to research contemporary photography and visit a former lover. He also calls attention to how the works in the exhibition relate to the story, placing emphasis upon their metaphorical aspects. Concepts of sprezzatura and dissimulation are discussed in relation to homosexual desire and AIDS. Brief biographical notes. 5 bibl. ref.
