Abstract (English)This catalogue revolves around seven works (objects in an exhibition and a series of postage stamps) made by co-authors of Refus global who are still practicing. The intention is to bear witness to the cultural impact of the manifesto, and to evaluate its significance on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its publication. Gagnon and Viau give an original vision of the movement: the first analyses the sociopolitical stakes which have turned the collection of essays into one of the major events of modernity in Québec; the latter examines the presence of the Automatists in Paris, based on archive material. Includes commentary by Gagnon on the artistic direction of the ten artists whose works are reproduced in the catalogue. 8 bibl. ref.
