Abstract (English)

Catalogue to accompany an exhibition of Dornan’s works from the 1990s. Hurtig’s curatorial essay provides biographical information on the artist. While considering Dornan’s Northern Irish heritage Hurtig shows how the artist uses keening, storytelling and stitchery to question the social construction of femininity and other phallocentric forms of subjectivity. She also suggests the artist’s interest in language and the body reflects an anatomy of desire based on communication and haptic perception. Includes inserted bookwork by the artist. List of works.
