Abstract (English)

This exhibition catalogue documents works – paintings, sculptures, craft, furniture and ceramics – by 32 First Nations artists from various regions (the North, the Pacific Northwest Coast, the Plains of Canada and the Maori of New Zealand). Norton’s essay draws attention to the cultural similarities of these aboriginal peoples, and insists on the cross-cultural nature of the exhibition. Includes list of artists in the exhibition, and a brief outline of the gallery’s history and mandate.
