Abstract (English)

This video documents Kessin’s performance “Memorial Candle,” which was presented in a multidisciplinary exhibition that focused on how the Holocaust is addressed in contemporary Canadian art. In the piece, a young girl (Z. Dascher-Cousineau) reads a short poetic text in English, French and German. Meanwhile, the artist writes a corresponding version of the text on a gallery wall, and lights a small black candle. The residue from the performance was presented as an installation.
