Abstract (English)

Catalogue for the Italian artist’s first Canadian exhibition of sculptures, paintings and drawings made between 1929 and 1970. C. Bertelli evokes the artist’s trajectory, while Contini’s poetic essay describes Marini’s work as “literature” and offers a compilation of critical excerpts concerning the artist’s relationship to surface, myths and landscape. Most of the 23 reproductions are accompanied by an artist’s statement and a brief descriptive caption. Includes two poems, by G. MacEwen and S. Etrog. Texts in English and Italian; Contini’s essay in Italian and French.
