Abstract (English)

This catalogue documents a group exhibition focusing on the theme of a single tree, comprised of works by 55 Canadian artists. Millard’s essay includes brief analyses of selected works in the exhibition. The following subjects are addressed in relation to the mythological and religious symbolism of the individual tree: concepts of the self and mortality, environmentalism and Canadian national identity.
