Abstract (English)

This catalogue, published to accompany Klunder’s exhibition “The Lethbridge Paintings” (2000), contains an essay by Campbell that focuses on the role of alchemy within the artist’s practice. The author’s phenomenological interpretation of Klunder’s abstract art foregrounds relationships between surface and depth, imagination and corporeality, body-image and the unconscious. Numerous references are made to C.G. Jung’s texts on “prima materia” and J. Elkins’ book “What Painting Is.” List of works; biographical notes. 31 bibl. ref.
