Abstract (English)In his introductory text for Kroeger’s book of photographs from the Canadian Rockies, Manguel compares the Rockies to other mountain chains throughout the world (the Andes, the Alps, the Sahara, etc.). His reflections on elemental, mythological and erotic characteristics of the Rockies draw attention to the importance of light in Kroeger’s panoramic landscapes. Includes an artist’s statement and a short text about the panoramic camera used to take the photographs. Brief biographical notes on artist and author. 1 bibl. ref.
