Abstract (English)

Catalogue documenting an installation by Shinkai, comprised of 500 glass apples suspended from the ceiling and 200-300 glass leaves scattered on the floor. Macklem’s poetic text traces the artist’s trajectory since coming to Canada in 1995, and calls attention to how Shinkai’s work celebrates the accomplishments of past and present generations of Japanese women in Canada. Includes a schematic drawing of the installation. Biographical notes on artist and author.
