Abstract (English)

Catalogue published in conjunction with an exhibition of 80 works by Favro – hybrid “painting sculptures,” “perspective” sculptures, meta-sculptural guitars, projected reconstructions (incorporating film or slide projection) and drawings – produced between 1966-1999. Essays by four authors address a wide range of issues in relation to the artist’s interdisciplinary practice (which includes his involvement with the Nihilist Spasm Band). Topics discussed include: Favro’s role within London’s arts community; his interest in phenomena and the relationship between illusion and reality (especially as it pertains to the viewer’s role in the completion of the work); the relationship between art and industrial technology; and Favro’s preoccupation with technologies of perception. List of works. Biographical notes. Circa 205 bibl. ref.
