Abstract (English)

Catalogue to accompany a touring exhibition comprised of 78 prints by Kipling, created between 1958-1999. Boulet’s curatorial essay traces the evolution of the artist’s printmaking practice (woodcuts, lithographs, etchings and drypoints). Emphasis is placed on Kipling’s lyrical use of line and unconventional printmaking technique. Thom’s essay on the artist’s prints focuses on the importance of drawing in the landscape rather than in the studio. He also calls attention to how working with a master printer has affected Kipling’s work. Includes notes on printmaking techniques. List of works. Biographical notes. 117 bibl. ref.
