Abstract (English)This anthology on the films of Wieland brackets her career, identifies the connections between her visual art and her films, and tracks the reception of her work in Canada and the U.S. Elder introduces her selection with a short biographical survey. Weiland’s contradictions (as formalist, feminist, and nationalist) are summarised by Zyrd’s essay: “There Are Many Joyces.” Wieland’s viewpoint is represented in interviews that address her artistic evolution, particularly from a feminine perspective.
