Abstract (English)

Published in conjunction with Douglas’ participation in the 25th Bienal de São Paulo, this catalogue presents his video installation “Journey Into Fear”, based on a 1942 film of the same title and its 1975 remake. The artist provides a historical background on the two films, analysing the plot and commenting on how each version reflects the socio-political context and values of its time – including the shift from internationalism to globalization.
