Noise Water Meat : A History of Sound in the ArtsTools Kahn, Douglas. Noise Water Meat : A History of Sound in the Arts. Cambridge, MA: MIT Press, 1999.
Abstract (English)Presenting a history of sound in the arts as it has manifested itself in literature, music, visual arts, theatre and film during the twentieth century, Kahn argues that the importance and centrality of sound has been overlooked by the dominant paradigm that privileges the visual. Focusing on Europe in the first half of the century and the United States in the latter, Khan adopts an interdisciplinary approach in his establishment of the study of “phonography.” Index, 10 p.
