Abstract (English)

This book outlines key developments in art history following the "moment of May 1968." Harris situates radical art history within socio-political contexts, and examines key texts by well known critics, including A. Boime, T.J. Clark, L. Mulvey, F. Orton and G. Pollock. His analysis of art historical methods and institutional structures focuses on the role of Marxist, feminist and psychoanalytic theories. Issues of representation, gender, race, sexuality and class are also addressed. Includes index. Circa 600 bibl. ref.
