Abstract (English)

Made to accompany an Avignon screening of experimental films by Canadian filmmakers, this publication includes essays by seven authors concerned with the "visual aspect" of avant-garde film. Topics discussed include: formal, material and technical elements of experimental film; the dialectical relation between the camera and the eye; the influence of American artists; and the subversive potential of the avant-garde cinema.
