Abstract (English)
Eleven artists of diverse cultural backgrounds explore their relationship with language in visually and textually symbolic installations within a monastery turned artists' residency. They comment on their permanent, bedroom installations and describe their working methods in interviews with curator S. Butler. Local writers relate the experiences each had spending a night in one of the installations. Butler, in her text and interviews, comments on alternative curatorial practices and collaborative endeavours. Biographical notes.
Résumé
Onze artistes d’horizons culturels divers explorent leur rapport au langage par le biais d’installations au contenu visuel et textuel symbolique, présentées dans les chambres d’un ancien monastère devenu résidence d’artistes. Interviewés par la conservatrice Butler, chaque artiste discute de son œuvre permanente et de ses méthodes de travail. Une dizaine d’auteurs locaux relatent leur expérience après avoir passé chacun une nuit dans une des installations, alors que Butler, dans son texte et ses entrevues, élabore sur les pratiques de conservation alternatives et sur les projets collectifs.
