Abstract (English)

Armstrong contributes an analysis of Roe’s painting practice and its evolution from the 1980s until 2001, which sees the use of language in the work go from a more subordinate role to a dominant but not dogmatic one. In an interview with M. Jacques, Roe discusses his influences, his intentions, his working process, and he describes his paintings as “cartoons of consciousness.” List of works. Biographical notes.
