MuseopathyTools Drobnick, Jim; Fisher, Jennifer. Museopathy. Kingston, Ont.: Agnes Etherington Art Centre, 2002.
Abstract (English)Curators Drobnick and Fisher define museopathy as the emotional effect and influence museums have on their visitors. In light of this definition, they describe the ten artist’s installations in Kingston’s various heritage institutions (under the heading «Museopathy»), the four performances (collectively entitled «Empathology»), and their own intervention («Collectioneering»). THey underline how the artists’ collaborations with the institutions transform the museum from a cultural container to a medium of contemporary art, contributing to critical and political awareness.
