Abstract (English)

Kellman’s book, which combines first person engagement with Snow’s work and third person analysis of the body of criticism surrounding it, espouses the position of the embodied viewer in the reception of art. Kellman argues that the contemporary sense of self as “fallen” due to modern technology can be redeemed in part through a process of self-questioning that Snow’s practice initiates in the viewer. Biographical note on the author. Bibliography (5 p.) and index (11 p.). List of illustrations. 406 bibl. ref.
