Abstract (English)

“Mediate” is part of an exchange between the Alternator Gallery in Kelowna and Circa in Montreal. Four Okanagan Valley artists were selected to show at Circa by Edelstein, who claims that their work needs no translation since it is rooted in pre-linguistic experience, and therefore transcends the linguistic divide between eastern and western Canada. Each artist’s work is represented by a separate pamphlet. Text in English and French. Biographical notes. 2 bibl. ref.

Examinant le travail des quatre artistes de l’Okanagan qu’elle a choisis pour l’exposition chez Circa, la commissaire Edelstein note que les œuvres ne nécessitent aucune « traduction » car elles se situent dans l’expérience pré-linguistique et transcendent le fossé qui divise l’ouest et l’est canadiens.
