Abstract (English)

Hoover considers the use of toxic materials in Martin’s previous work, and relates it to his new series of paintings that integrate medication as a surface element. Hoover maintains that the artist's choice of materials adds a social dimension to the abstract formalism of the work. Stylistic imperfections reflect the imperfections of the body, she adds, citing the autobiographical dimensions of Martin’s practice. List of works. Biographical notes. 5 bibl. ref.
