Abstract (English)

Commenting on Gutmann's training as a painter and his career as a travelling photojournalist, Sutnik and Mitchell emphasize the artist's ability to integrate both documentary and aesthetic concerns. Includes much of Gutmann's work of the 1930s in Germany and America.
