Abstract (English)"[...]The baba tagwa masks associated with ceremonies share some distinct characteristics. These feature a bulbous or conical body rising from an oval base; slightly convex oval open-work eye-rings; a prominent ridge for a nose, which divides the face in half; and, a bent-back beak at the lower end of the ridge which indicates a pierced septum and allows insertion of feathers, leaves, and shells." -- page 10.
