Abstract (English)

"Griffith’s work explores food and its relationship to various aspects of culture, society and the fabrication of ever-growing artificial and manipulated landscapes. The EYE CANDY 3series of photographs depict popular and recognizable landscapes from Canadian provinces and the north such as Niagara Falls, Lake Louise, and Peggy’s Cove. The photographs are of dioramas of the landscapes made with processed foods common to North American supermarkets. The large scale and alluring colour of the photographs draw the viewer in, and upon recognition of the locations represented and the foods employed in their construction, alternate narratives emerge." -- Stride gallery website.
