Abstract (English)

"In 1995 I cut a stencil of forty "grapes" which were derived from the fruit dish in Picasso's 1907 Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. Using a roller and black enamel paint, I rolled the stencil 250 times on a 48x48" canvas to achieve ten thousand "grapes". It was then that I was reminded of my 1,000,000 pennies from 1979 and decided to create a parallel to it by painting one million grapes." -- Gerald Ferguson, page 1.
