Abstract (English)"Position as Desired is an invitation to reflect on what it means to be African Canadian. The exhibition is not meant to be an encyclopaedic treatment of the topic, but the beginning of a conversation that introduces new voices in the visual space of the museum. Following the lead of four contemporary young artists, the exhibition explores different ways in which people of African descent have positioned themselves within Canadian society. The poetic search of the artwork is juxtaposed with historical images that introduce a sort of emotional genealogy and evoke a positional that did not always allow individual histories, agency, and hopes to emerge." -- p. 15.
